Five BRS MLAs from the Medchal seat gathered behind closed doors against minister Mallareddy

A day after five BRS MLAs from the Medchal seat gathered behind closed doors against minister Mallareddy, there appeared to be no signs of de-escalation of infighting at a time when the party is developing national political aspirations on the one hand and facing Assembly elections on the other.

On Tuesday, supporters of Uppal MLA Bethi Subhash Reddy blocked GHMC mayor Gadwal Vijayalaxmi from laying the groundwork for development programmes in the constituency without inviting the MLA. They got into a heated argument with the mayor of the GHMC over not following protocol. On Monday, Subhash Reddy was one of five MLAs who protested against Minister Malla Reddy.

As the MLA’s supporters chanted “mayor go back,” tensions rose. The yelling of slogans caused a fight between MLA supporters and the mayor. The mayor blamed the protests on the MLA who did not attend the programme.

Vijayalaxmi added that the GHMC zonal commissioner had invited her to the function, as well as an MLA and a local corporator. However, the MLA asked that the programme be rescheduled on Tuesday with the GHMC zonal commissioner. “Who is to blame if he hasn’t shown up even today?” an enraged mayor said. “My name is Mayor. It is not my responsibility to invite anyone. It is the responsibility of officials. Furthermore, these development projects are being funded by the GHMC. “There is no need to invite an MLA,” she said, sparking further protests from MLA supporters.

“I am a senior leader working for the party since the statehood movement,” Subhash Reddy responded. K. Chandrashekar Rao, our party’s president and Chief Minister, has issued explicit orders to all party officials that MLAs would lead their respective constituencies and that all activities will be carried out with their involvement. Mayor Vijayalaxmi believes that it is unnecessary to invite MLAs to GHMC-funded programmes. If that’s the case, why is she just visiting the Uppal constituency? GHMC also has jurisdiction over numerous additional constituencies. Why isn’t she going there? This demonstrates that there is a hidden motive at work here. This is not the first time she has neglected me, but it is the fourth.Despite this, I remained calm, but party workers became impatient and registered their objections.”

For a long time, there has been infighting among BRS (previously TRS) leaders in the Uppal Assembly constituency. Subhash Reddy is angry with Vijayalaxmi for disregarding him and doing operations in his constituency without his knowledge. Furthermore, Subhash Reddy is facing heavy resistance in his constituency from his own party officials, including GHMC former mayor Bonthu.

Rammohan and his wife, Cherlapally corporator Bonthu Sridevi, are aiming to gain an advantage against the MLA by securing a party ticket to fight the Uppal seat in the 2023 Assembly elections. Subhash Reddy’s supporters accuse Vijayalaxmi, Bonthu Rammohan, and his wife Sridevi of conspiring against him in Uppal seat, generating frivolous issues in the expectation that the party leadership will refuse Subhash Reddy a ticket to fight the Assembly elections in 2023.
