Anupam Kher
A former chairman of the Film and Television Institute of India, Anupam Kher is an Indian actor. Kher is regarded as one of India’s most versatile film actors, having appeared in over 530 films over the course of a long career, mostly in Hindi cinema and numerous plays.
Bollywood fans enjoy hearing tales from the 1970s and 1980s because the industry was so raw back then, in addition to being entertaining. Everything was so open and honest about how celebs came across without PRs and managers swarming over them.
On The Kapil Sharma Show
Anupam Kher recently shared such great tales on The Kapil Sharma Show. His interaction with actor-singer Kishore Kumar was the one that had his co-stars and the emcee in fits of laughter.
The Uunchai actor began by describing how he first met Kumar. He acknowledged that his residence was in Bandra, close to Mehboob Studio. He thought it would be awkward to walk to work once Saaransh was launched and gained him recognition. “I’d hail a cab and ask the driver to take me to Bandra station. I would tell him I had forgotten something when I got there and ask him to take me to the Mehboob studio. I commuted every day that way,” he said with a laugh.
On one of his routine trips, he noticed a man approaching his taxi wearing a dhoti and hysterically pleading with him to get off so he could take the vehicle. The person was Kishore Kumar, and it was Kher’s first encounter with him. Next, they met at Wembley Stadium, where they were scheduled to perform at a concert. The actor was a fan of the singer.
Anupam Kher expressed how much he enjoyed hearing Kishore Kumar perform the song “Zindagi ki yehi reet hai ” live. He sang it in a different tone while practising. I approached him to inform him that he was singing on the wrong note because I was so emotionally invested in the song.
He said that as his band of musicians prepared to attack him, the singer kindly inquired as to what he meant. He was singing it differently from the original track, the actor informed him. Then, when he inquired about the singer, I responded, “You.” Kishore da responded, “Toh aapke baap ka kya jaa raha,” before starting to sing on the same note once more, according to Anupam. Everyone was stunned by his comment.
On The Kapil Sharma Show, Anupam Kher appeared alongside Neena Gupta, Sarika, and Boman Irani to promote their movie Uunchai.
