Roger Binny Identifies Two Areas He Wants To Work On After Becoming BCCI Chief

Roger Binny, who was recently elected president of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and took over from Sourav Ganguly, disclosed the two areas he will concentrate on most.

At the 91st Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the board on Tuesday, Binny, a former Indian pacer and 1983 World Cup champion were chosen as the BCCI president (October 18). The lone candidate that submitted a nomination for BCCI president was Binny.

As the BCCI president, I want to primarily focus on two things, said Roger Binny, according to ANI. The priority is protecting gamers from harm. Jasprit Bumrah’s injury just before the World Cup disrupted the entire plan of action. Second, I want to concentrate on the national pitches.

Notably, Rajeev Shukla and Devajit Saikia will take up the vice president and joint secretary positions of the board, respectively, while Jay Shah will continue to serve as the BCCI secretary. The new BCCI Treasurer, on the other hand, is Ashish Shelar.

Binny took 47 and 77 wickets in his respective roles as an India representative in 27 Tests and 72 ODIs. In the 1983 World Cup, he was one of the key players in India’s historic first World Cup victory and India’s leading wicket-taker with 18 wickets.

The new head of the Indian Cricket Board announced after his appointment on Tuesday that his main goal is to prevent injuries to the country’s players and fields. Binny went on to discuss how India’s preparations for the T20 World Cup in 2022 were impacted by Jasprit Bumrah’s unfortunate injury.

Roger Binny, the recently elected BCCI president, said on Tuesday that he intended to focus mostly on preventing player injuries. Former Indian fast bowler Roger Binny took over from Sourav Ganguly as the president of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). The winner of the 1983 World Cup will be the 36th president of the Indian Cricket Federation. Binny was the only candidate who put in a candidacy for the top job, it should be mentioned.

I intend to concentrate primarily on two things as president of the BCCI. The priority is protecting gamers from harm. Jasprit Bumrah’s injury just before the World Cup disrupted the entire plan of action. Second, as stated by BCCI President Roger Binny to ANI, I want to focus on the national pitches.

The BCCI Secretary will still be Jay Shah. Rajeev Shukla will have the position of vice president, and Devajit Saikia will hold the position of joint secretary. Binny has represented India in 72 ODIs and 27 test matches. In addition to 47 test wickets, the right-arm bowler took 77 in ODIs. Being the best wicket-taker for India in the 1983 World Cup with 18 wickets, he was a significant contributor to India’s first-ever World Cup victory.

The Women’s IPL has received approval from the Indian Cricket Board; an announcement on the window and schedule will be made later. On Tuesday, the AGM also approved the Senior Men’s and Senior Women’s Future Tour Programs for the years 2022–2025 and 2023–2027, respectively.

The presidency of the International Cricket Council (ICC) was not discussed during the AGM, nevertheless. The next chairman of the ICC will be chosen during the upcoming board meeting in Melbourne.
